Fish Nutritional and Healthy Facts

'And they offered him a piece of broiled fish and a honeycomb. And when he had eaten in their presence, he took what remained and gave it to them.'

Luke 24:41-43

Fish are low in cholesterol and contain healthy polyunsaturated fats. In bible times, there was no method of preserving fish caught, so people would eat their fish fresh. This would provide them a rich source of protein, potassium, vitamins, and minerals. Eating fish can have many health benefits including the following

-           Thinning of the blood

-           Protects arteries from damage

-           Inhibits blood clots

-           Reduces blood  triglycerides

-           Lowers LDL blood cholesterol

-           Lowers blood pressure

-           Reduces risk of heart attack and stroke

-           Fights inflammation

-           Relieves migraine headaches

The key to fish being so nutritional is hidden in the omega 3 fatty acids of the fish. These acids are concentrated in cold water fish, such as anchovies, blue fish, lake trout, bluefin tuna, salmon, sardines, etc. Once upon a time fish oil was a joke for nutritionists, but this is no longer the case. Certain sea foods even offer protection against heart disease and cancer.
